Culture Metis Heritage Program
Students of all ages will learn culture, language and traditional dance in this week long program. This is a drop in session all week from 1-2 pm only.

About the event
The VDMA is excited to announce that we will be hosting a Cultural/Educational traditional Metis Heritage program this July 10 to July 15, 2023! This is a 5-day program which will enhance your knowledge and traditional skills (through mind, body, and soul). Students of all ages will learn traditional Metis dance, culture, and some language all week long and then showcase what they have learnt at a banquet performance. Students will learn their culture and step by step dance teaching the student both young and old how to honour our ancestors. This course will be taught by Metis Bev.
There will be three classes:
1. For drop in only from 1-2 pm;
2. 3-4 pm for all ages;
3. 5-6 pm for all ages 14 years and older.
- Please note that this is an interactive group routine which requires teamwork, physical endurance, and the ability to follow instruction. Each group will also be learning games, dance steps (jigging) and how culture can inspire/motivate you. You are required to attend all 5 classes.
- These classes are for the same group of 15 people for all 5 days.
- There is a limit to 15 people per age group.
- Location in in Room 006 - 3402 27th Ave, Vernon, BC. In the People Place.
- Banquet dinner to follow July. 15, 2023.
- Banquet tickets are limited and are $20 per person.
- Dinner tickets are first come first serve. Must RSVP.
- Door prizes, and a Performance to showcase participants’ hard work throughout the week.
